    Are You a Cherry picker?

    Are you a workout cherry picker? See something you don’t like, or aren’t good at and decide to give the session a miss? I’mm sure we’ve all been guilty of it at some point in time – maybe not in CrossFit but in other areas of our life. The thing about CrossFit is that it is designed to make you a well-rounded physical being – our sessions make you powerful, strong, fit and fast (yes, all to varying degrees – but the best you can be). CrossFit forces you to confront your weaknesses and overcome them – terrible at Snatches? Chances are you’re never going to be the best in the gym at this movement however you can bring them up to a standard that they don’t frustrate you as much anymore. By tackling weaknesses and completing workouts/movements that we don’t really enjoy we are making ourselves better and more well rounded, just as CrossFit prescribes. The other aspect that we rarely think about is how tackling weaknesses makes us “uncomfortable,” – mentally. By putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations we grow as athletes and as people, we develop resilience, tolerance and toughness. Our sessions (and life) would be boring if we coasted through without challenging ourselves – so come and get uncomfortable, work those weaknesses and get better as an athlete and a person.
